Kathryn Kavicky envisioned writing a novel since childhood. Early on she wrote simple little stories about her pets, her sisters, her friends. As she got older, short stories, poetry, screen scripts, journalistic articles and a variety of creative prose written throughout high school and college led to a writing career in public relations and marketing communications. She moved to New York City direct from college, landing a job as Assistant to the Editor of a small publishing company that focused on self-help books and autobiographies of the rich and famous. Years later, now in Stamford, CT, Kathryn’s dream job came true as Director of Author Events and PR with the Walden Book Company, an icon in the retail book store business for more than 60 years. Over the years, from then til now, Kathryn earned a reputation as a creative writer working for numerous types of businesses including real estate, not-for-profit, corporate, public, and private enterprises. Always the romantic at heart, Kathryn is a master storyteller. Yellow Bird is her first novel, originally penned one hot summer, nearly 40 years ago.
